March One

Snow starting in 21 minutes. Wintercast ending in 3 hours. It has no rhythm. I play Quiet Night, close the screen when moving stars make me dizzy. I like to write in quiet. Music keeps me from hearing “thump” just when I think it has stopped the pressure pump pushes propane through the line again out of rhythm. I find myself listening for it, distracted.

It is gray. Mariah plays gently with the trees. Candles in the windows still glow in early morning light calling us back inside. It is March. It could be yesterday. It could be January. It is winter. It has begun snowing not falling straight down, east northeast blowing. Not beautiful fluttering flakes, no wonder the camera doesn’t recognize this winter face.

“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.”

Proverbs 4:25
