The Phoebe pair seemed annoyed when we greeted the frosty morn, me doing a quick step surprised by the slippery deck; —didn’t see from where they flew but silhouettes on the blinds suggest the beginnings of a nest atop the covered rain gutter.
Spider silk knits black chain links, travels from solar light posts to the railing glistening with frost in sunlight. Four Bald Eagles visited yesterday. Peepers began to sing before dusk, this morning the pond has returned to its placid self. One addition sitting high in a tree, a Great Horned Owl. He would have no interest in the fishing spider I uncovered on the deck. Zsolt, who seldom sits down outside was seen lying down while I scraped vinyl letters from the container before I plant flowers. Zayne and Ruger escaped the too warm sun to nap under the deck. The three didn’t have to stay outside, the door was open, they could’ve been lying on the sofa.
Be devoted to one another in love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
