Frost varnishes the canvas of Thursday, my fingers finally warm enough to strike the right keys most of the time. The insulated cup hordes coffee’s heat, a blanket warms my knees. Welcome May, you share the elements of winter mornings.
Birds flit about, not singing as they gather nesting things, spend moments on the fence perhaps catching their breath or determining what to do next oblivious to our morning routine. Dust edges the pond. It looks like pollen; it could be frost. My hands are warming but not enough to hold onto the second herbal pain capsule now hiding in plain sight on the rug, not that I can see it, but there is the mystery of two shades of red crayons on the floor. Where did they come from?
Lead With Your Heart was playing in my brain before I opened my eyes. For some reason I checked the coffee filter before pushing the button, it was empty. Coffee is essential, not just hot water. The joys of every day start at the beginning.
Everything is appropriate in its own time.
But though God has planted eternity in the hearts of men,
even so, many cannot see the whole scope
of God’s work from beginning to end.
