Going outside, like stepping into air conditioning, too cool for black fly gatherings. Soleil that alchemist turns dew to diamonds. A day I want to walk into. 14 varieties of birds including a Pileated Woodpecker conversed. I was content to listen, to look, to take pictures. Traffic noise reaches this hollow, fades away. I am blessed to stay.
I spend vast amounts of time looking out windows; looking not expecting, not daydreaming as my 4th grade teacher wrote. Maybe it’s more about being fed by what I see. Last night sensor lights came on as something flew past, a bat? A bird en route to egg-sitting duty? I saw only the light and darkness around it.
We cannot see through the dark we can only shine light on it.
