According to the alert, lightning was in the area last night. Warmth greets us at the door. Dew provides a drink for some creatures. Dwindled to a trio—the morning chorus: Veery, Black-capped Chickadee, Red-eyed Vireo. Perhaps others are tending those with mouths gaping skyward. No beetles blessed the deck. In the distance, a rooster crowing.

In leaf, one maple holds onto her flowers. Across the pond, white blossoms, probably a cherry tree. More difficult the seeing, for those unaware it is there, the pond hides in reflection, of leaves, sometimes clouds.

Clouds, a sign that something more is there.
