Saturday yawns before us. Oh wait. That’s me. Cool breeze not enough to push leaves into motion, not enough to raise chill bumps on bare arms. Vociferous Bluejays imitate crows, drown out the American Goldfinch and Red-eyed Vireo. Soleil, in her seven o’clock angle of morning, lights up the pond, shines leaves, highlights grasses. Zayne puts his head under my hand saying: “I need some mommying.”

Become the comfort sought in silence.
