In the glow of solar lamps at 5, I looked for spider signs. Didn’t lean on the railing (although I wanted to). Daylight revealed so many spider strings – atop the fence, lamp post to lamp, in links of the fence dividing holding together, in trees. Twas a busy night for spiders! The Black and Yellow Argiope still atop the Cicada but at some time during the night left the body long enough to spin a web.

Chris cleared more brush after work. The view has become a painting. Fog adds a calm softness to the wild. A scene different from this day last year.

Birds make themselves heard: American Goldfinch, Pileated Woodpecker, White-throated Sparrow, Song Sparrow. A Blue Jay seems discontent with Wednesday.

Do not mark the innocent day with the disappointment of yesterday, nor the contemplation of tomorrow.
