In the 5 o’clock dark, lights flash in the driveway. Zsolt barks. My son’s fishing companion. Did I put all 3 fleece-lined shirts in the wash last night? They will take days to dry without sun, without heat. How would a blue terry robe look over jeans?

Leaves upturned, plead for water, clouds provide shade instead. I leave the door open. One by one, the three come in, look for me, lie down on their beds.

An anchor keeps us from drifting: Love hangs upon an open door.
