Fog settles among the trees not falling into the stream. A dove sits on the fence, drops to the ground. To make coffee, I leave Merlin on the deck listening for birds and he heard them: Black-capped Chickadee, Red-winged Blackbird, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Eastern Phoebe, Song Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, White-breasted Nuthatch, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Blue Jay, White-throated Sparrow, Hermit Thrush. The music of wheels on pavement is heard above the celestial ringing in my ears. Disturbed sleep, disturbed dreams. Four times forcing me to get up, walk through the night, leg cramps. A dark shade of pink – fog mutes red leaves.

Everything blends; nothing stands out. Yet all are exactly themselves.
