Soleil looks into the laundry room, installs a matching window on the adjacent wall. No leaves replace those I blew away yesterday. Not even crows break the silence; the rooster is usually heard in the afternoon rousting those who’ve fallen asleep in their recliners, or so I’m told. Zayne again pushed his way through the barricade, appeared in my room on silent feet while I was putting on jeans. Zsolt, not sure he’d fit through the opening or perhaps not liking the feel of metal brushing against him, stayed in place.
The keyboard runs my words together like an excited toddler telling what he’s found. I turn it off, on. It leaves words out or repeats one letter. I turn it off. Replace one battery. That’s better. There remains a stutter. I need to find another new battery, but which one did I replace? They all look the same.
Things remain the same until we change them.
