Ruger steps onto the deck looks around walks toward the railing looks straight ahead turns, looks left, turns again to see if I’m joining him. I’m watching a deer running, a deer Ruger didn’t see or perhaps he did. He doesn’t bark at deer. I haven’t let the giants out yet. Ruger was insistent impatient, talking while I brushed my teeth.

Zayne would’ve run, would’ve jumped, would’ve barked. He can jump high as this fence but get over it? I hope not...he’d break where he landed in brush and boulders. I recently read a post, a 6-month-old female Great Dane looking for a home. She person ally greets everyone who walks by the house after she jumps over the fence. It didn’t say if that fence was 5 feet high.

Zsolt only barks at things out of place, like the black sled leaning against the container. He also barks at things unseen in the driveway, wind, shadows on the window, Chris as he comes and goes or when he says goodnight to me.

Last night moon showed her full face lighting the pond, boundaries blended into snow’s winter land. Sky gray. Soleil has not come bouncing glare into squinting cataract eyes. Perhaps later.

Out, in, coffee poured, cup emptied, typing finished, the three sleeping.
