1348 skies dark, only remnants of ice swept clear of the last snow remain on deck. Winter Weather Advisory extended to 0300. As I pressed the button to drip coffee into a blue cup, Zayne ran past the window. The three came when I slid the door. Ruger soaked the beach towel his long fur holding rain like an un-wrung mop; rain I didn’t see falling. They sat, asked for a second biscuit.

I’ve mastered the triplets of Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes. I memorized where the drum tongues are (numbered in gold 1-7). They do not progress in a circle. Now I’ve put note names on the drum another brain puzzle. I know the note names forward but haven’t mastered backwards – c, b, a, g, f, e, d, c. More practice! There are no sharps or flats on this drum. Reviewing music theory – “accidentals” – another language to master.

...and the rain fell without sound, felt on metal rang like a bell.
