Frost patterns deck railing, makes opaque car windows. Sky brightens, orange spreading like cream through blue on eastern horizon. The three, coats cold returning from morning explorations, sit for a bone, gather in cleared space around my desk for more petting, easily return to dreaming.
Soleil washes windows in a warm glow not strong enough to extinguish candles on the sill. Soon animals will make new paths through pristine snow, one day common evening primroses will grow.
