Wet brown landscape greets the second time we step outside. Gray sky. Rain. Zayne stands at the gate while I make sure the car starts for his trip to the vet later. I buckle his harness while Zsolt is outside. A harness is a happy thing, a lot of confusion, the three thinking everyone is going somewhere. The magic is getting just one of the three out of the house when it’s time to leave. All three willingly now get into the car. In the past it was a lot of huffing, puffing, pushing, pulling, pleading to get a giant onto a seat. I wonder if they think we are going home, to Pennsylvania.
No one wants to be left behind.
