I left the door open as feet hit the deck to explore cool morning. Faint swath of pink above horizon, thirty minutes later shaded blue like mountains painted behind trees. Not tall. Present. Seen. Greener grass. Birds: Northern Flicker, American Crow, Blue Jay, Hermit Thrush, American Robin, Song Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, American Goldfinch, Eastern Phoebe. Dew sits where frost for months has been.

Once frozen, now liquid.
