A fawn ran for the woods as I slid the door open for Ruger before releasing the giants from their room. On a blade of grass next to the car, a fat drop of rain glistens if you see it from a precise angle. At the slightest movement it is invisible. Black raspberries peek from under leaves. Zayne doesn’t stand in the kitchen waiting for a biscuit he slides around corners like dark water seeking the hidden place of his bed. When medication is given, and biscuits they all return to sleep, and I walk outside to look at morning with Merlin. Sky summer blue no clouds.
A doe browses wet vegetation close to the stream. Twin fawns appear in the leech field unconcerned about the distance to mom. Six birds are heard: Solitary Sandpiper, Red-eyed Vireo, Brown Creeper, Blue Jay, Gray Catbird, White-breasted Nuthatch. One leaf lets go, follows a straight path to the ground, no breeze to dance with.
Seeing requires a precise line of sight.
