Ruger was on his feet ready to go out when I turned on the light. I was shocked to see a long legs spider clinging to the bathroom doorway. Sky, white hiding the moon I could see vaguely last night, not clearly through leafy trees. Something, not wind, not a breeze moves leaves sporadically on one tree. Too early for traffic. Wild things grow taller than stacked boulders, green things that look like they may flower, don’t. An American Grass Spider has spun his funnel against a window, another, larger one hides in a crevice of siding made a trap spanning the space between house and fence. A Pileated Woodpecker trills eerily in the distance. Further away, an Eastern Wood-Pewee. Moss thrives among brown leaves of seasons past.
What are we keeping of today?
