The three sleep while I’m on deck looking for a picture. The red truck auto starts. I do not jump. Breeze blows through the canopy. Sky like a frosted light bulb, not bright. A long legs at rest on siding. Brown Creeper. Pileated Woodpecker. I decide on another angle of the stream for blog photo. Past the gate, past my car, I discover two tiny blossoms of Evening Primrose.

Sometimes a few more steps are needed to find the blossom out of season.
