A quartet conversed the second time we entered Tuesday: Mourning Dove, Blue Jay, Common Yellowthroat, Red-breasted Nuthatch. Soleil is solemn, the leaves silent, air scented, faintly familiar: I can’t identify. (There is no app with a nose.) Gray moves quickly NE across blue. In her lap, the lawn holds no water. I brush water off objects containing mosquito eggs.

Altered by the breath of living, I carry, I leave behind, I recognize the unknowable through the spiral of time.
