Shall we begin counting days? The First Friday. Is it significant? I counted days once. Tuesday, November 26, 2019, was the first day. My mom counted days after her diagnosis until she didn’t like the idea. What is the point? she asked in her diary.
Sue didn’t count days. She stopped playing piano. She kept the piano, captured in real estate photos of her study, other rooms empty as the house has been for almost two years. Property relisted, an old photo of the living room with furniture, her husband’s chair that wasn’t there when I visited.
One day fades into another marked randomly with notes in a daily planner.
There are days that don’t require writing down…
etched in memory, days that changed our lives.
