Deck wet, not slippidy. I checked before letting the three come out with me, before checking the temperature. Coffee drips – I pushed ALL the buttons this morning not just one, like yesterday when I returned to the kitchen to an empty cup. I know I will not see, well I might see at least one of the singing birds: Brown Creeper, American Robin, Black-capped Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, White-throated Sparrow, Eastern Phoebe. Fog paints around the trees, not over them, not over the ground, atmosphere, not danger. From the west a rooster crows. From the east traffic noise. Pond is glass, no black ducks, no beaver, no drops of rain. The Farmer’s Almanac lives again under new management. Old news (January), relevant.

Some things thought lost, are found again.
