I imagine hundreds of voices singing “My Lord What a Mornin.” Singing quietly, in harmony, reverently. Voices, the only instruments needed to welcome this sunrise.

0515 Four birds sang before sunrise perhaps praising the morning each with their own song. After sunrise, a mosaic of music, not a cacophony: Magnolia Warbler, Song Sparrow, Northern Parula, American Robin, Northern Waterthrush, White-throated Sparrow, Common Yellowthroat, Black-throated Green Warbler, Brown Creeper, Gray Catbird, Ovenbird, Black-and-white Warbler. The pond replicates painted sky. The three are not fascinated by the sun moving, so fluid is her motion it does not catch their eyes. Rooster crows. Traffic rushes. Planes mark the sky.

A Monday in spring awakening.
