0505 did not reveal rising sun. Clouds gray mottled. Change in the air was felt yesterday, warmer. Zayne bounded across the fenced-in-land looking, sighting, barking. Because I was watching, I saw the deer’s tail disappearing through trees some leafing. Grass greening. Ferns unfolding.

Gleepers heard last night, silent this morning. Birds, they carry on at first light: Pileated Woodpecker, American Redstart, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Parula, Black-capped Chickadee, Common Yellowthroat, Black-and-white Warbler, Ovenbird, Black-throated Green Warbler, Blue-headed Vireo, White-throated Sparrow.

First light, sunrise, sunset, last light.
