It is an allusion – the look of fall, of red leaves. The sun paints them. The frost is real, the cold air is brisk. Birds greet the sun, each other: Common Yellowthroat, Blue Jay, Black-throated Green Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, American Redstart, American Robin, Red-eyed Vireo, American Crow, White-throated Sparrow, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Ovenbird. Dandelions thrive. Last night a slice of moon, gleepers.
The sun moves. The leaves again are green.
