Sun shines on the pond drawing ghostly fog from cold water. The three take no notice. I am mesmerized. A new landscape, more leaves. Frost left her mark on the car’s metal, not the windows. Tiny spider dangles from green umbrella.

The usual birds are speaking: American Robin, Northern Flicker, American Goldfinch, Red-eyed Vireo, Black-and-white Warbler, American Redstart, Common Yellowthroat, Magnolia Warbler, Blue Jay, White-throated Sparrow, Ovenbird, Canada Warbler, Song Sparrow, Northern Waterthrush, Eastern Phoebe, Gray Catbird; and one not often heard – Baltimore Oriole.

The day is breathing.
