Sky, blue, diluted. No clouds. Bright sun reflects in pond. Heavy dew. Lush green hides any new thing that may surprise, except blossoms should they arrive. Clump of wild mustard has shed its yellow. Like water lilies in receding water, green oak leaves. Without sound, a single crow flies over. Some birds, morning songs, talking: Ovenbird, Gray Catbird, Black-and-white Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, American Crow, Red-eyed Vireo. The three sleeping. The apple tree he planted, leaves wilting. Coffee cooling.

Transformation arrives with and without rain.
