Against the hum of traffic, birds, more than have been recently heard: Black-capped Chickadee, Common Yellowthroat, Eastern Phoebe, American Crow, Blue Jay, White-throated Sparrow. Blue sky. One daisy, three mates shriven. Sun.

Last night, half-dollar sized spider sought warmth under the hot tub cover. I kept expecting to see it climb over the edge as I sat in the water. Not a soothing experience.

It is time to seek warm places.
