While standing on deck listening, I could hear leaves tapped by rain that didn’t reach me. He’s on that roof today. Cloudless sky between white and gray, not threatening. Trill of Pileated Woodpecker joined by Blue Jay, Song Sparrow. Crickets briefly. Left knee advised against walking to hidden garden, unhappy about leaving fenced-in land. 20-year ago injury doctors told me I was too old to repair. The remaining daisy vanished. Bush holds some not quite ripe blueberries. Oak leaves turning red. Stream has garnered more water.
Light and life changes.
