If I sit at my desk without a light, I can see the round solar light shining white, I can see the candle flickering yellow reflected twice in the window, I can see the computer screen and things within its realm. I cannot see down the hall nor the steam rising from my coffee cup. Standing on the deck watching the three hurry down the ramp, I saw my breath. Yesterday, for a millisecond, I could see Bruce sitting in my chair beside the fire. In that moment of turning the light off, turning the light on, the sky began to turn up her light, limbs dimly appeared like scribbling.

Things are there, whether or not we can see them.
