Frost glitters landscape like a Christmas card. I am mesmerized by golden leaves coming down in groups or drifting one by one. Only the golden leaves fall. Sun creates a stained glass cathedral. Clear, high blue sky. Traffic noise. A Blue Jay squawks as a bird’s shadow passes my window. Somewhere a crow caws. A Hairy Woodpecker offered the first Sunday greeting, then a Brown Creeper. Leaves fall and fall and fall, not pushed by the wind, gently leaves fall.

Leaves know when it’s time to let go.
