Days have passed without bird voices. Sky sheds night like someone removing a coat slowly. Wind is furious. Four sensor lights don’t turn on. I can barely distinguish the three walking in the dark. Did the wind shake trees, send leaves to turn on lights depleting stored energy? Was some creature running around the fenced-in-land setting off the sensors? Is that creature hiding now under the deck? Probably not. The three would’ve informed me with startled barks. Bright last night, the moon has her own light. She doesn’t turn on fence lights; she doesn’t have the warmth to charge them. Before I can see it, sun lights sparse leaves high in the canopy.

Keep watch for all things are changing.
