Shadow of a bird just crossed my window. The day is bright. Sky blue, unvaried in color. No clouds. Pond placid, no silent rings reaching for land. No breeze to nudge raindrops from evergreen boughs, from chain links. Green leaves begin to fill the space between branch and sky. Birds sing: Gray Catbird, Veery, American Goldfinch, Black-capped Chickadee, Black-throated Green Warbler, Northern Flicker, Magnolia Warbler, Red-eyed Vireo, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Ovenbird, Northern Parula, Common Yellowthroat, Tufted Titmouse. The three nibble clumps of wet grass, meander through their fenced-in-land.

The evolution of days, what is here.
