WOOF! WOOF! Ended my dream and any remnant thereof. Zsolt wanted to go outside. He didn’t care that it was a sleep-in Saturday. Once outside more woofs began as I was finding my robe. Ruger, tail swishing waited in the kitchen. Zsolt was standing on deck looking through the open door. Zayne stood like stone midway down the ramp. As usual, I could not define what triggered the woofing.

Sky, summer blue. Sun shining. Birds broke the uneasy silence as the three meandered. Brown Creeper, Gray Catbird, Common Yellowthroat, Red-breasted Nuthatch, American Robin, Cedar Waxwing, Red-eyed Vireo, American Crow, American Goldfinch.

Reassurance: the presence of the protector.
